Today’s episode is a must-listen! I’m going to teach you my web copy audit method, which I use as a copywriter and messaging strategist working exclusively with designers.
Why do a website audit of your copywriting
Looking at your interior design website from the lens of a copywriter is different than looking at it from the lens of a web designer. Web designers focus on design elements, fonts, how the copy is organized on a page, and loading speed, among other important things.
As a copywriter, I first and foremost look for strategic messaging and emotional resonance with your ideal audience. Here are some of the critical questions I ask during a website copy audit:
- What’s the first thing your website visitors see when they land on your homepage?
- What do they see next?
- Are you able to capture their attention with the first words displayed above the fold?
- Do the words resonate and create a connection?
- Does your content attract your ideal audience, or just about anyone?
- Does the content compel your website visitors to act and reach out?
- Does your website effectively tell your story?
- Does it show the value you bring to your clients?
- Is your differentiator highlighted in the copy?
These are just a few of the many questions I ask when auditing a website for my interior design clients.
